Jobs and Training are essential for people to grow and create a productive and meaningful life for both themselves and their families.  We offer programs that help people from all backgrounds kick-start their journey.

Pathways to work

This program is aimed at empowering Aboriginal people who are affected by alcohol and other drugs, incarceration or other social issues to avoid relapse, improve family relationships, become more connected with community and identify pathways to work. Another outcome will be to empower business minded participants to consider setting up their own enterprise, or alternatively complete the ECU Uni Prep course for entry into a university degree program.

 

A Cert II in Leadership is offered with modules including:

  • Organise and complete daily work activities
  • Undertake self development
  • Promote a socially diverse environment
  • Develop leadership skills
  • contribute to a team project
  • Communicate effectively
  • Interpret aspects of local Australian Indigenous Culture
  • Carry out natural area restoration

 

Projects that will be undertaken in this course will be creating a cultural precinct project on the Marlak (bush) block at the Djidi Djidi Aboriginal Primary School and also introduction to Construction.

 

Health & Healing Workshed

Breakaway, in partnership with other Bunbury Geographe Aboriginal Corporations, has fitted out a workshed on a property in Glen Iris that is available for community activities.

 

AOD recovery mentoring service

One on one peer support mentoring provided to community members who are in recovery or working to overcome their dependency with addiction or trying to break the cycle of incarceration. Mentoring is with trained Peer Support Mentors upon request
